The National Monuments Service has confirmed it has been contacted about another Meath archaeological find uncovered by the heatwave — the possible childhood home of St Oliver Plunkett.

Peter Fallon grew up on a farm near Kells, Co. Meath. He has published many collections of poetry including translations of Virgil. His latest book is Strong My Love. He is the founding editor of The Gallery Press, one of Ireland’s most distinguished publishers of poetry.

At home his kids called him head-the-ball, their fondness for Seamus Heaney the father more than a match for their awe of him as artist.
