A Scotland Yard officer will be charged with killing Ian Tomlinson at the G20 protests after a dramatic U-turn by Britain’s top prosecutor.

Britain's Director of Public Prosecutions is to examine whether there is enough evidence to charge a Scotland Yard officer linked to the death of Ian Tomlinson during the G20 protests with manslaughter.

Ian Tomlinson was unlawfully killed by a Scotland Yard officer at the G20 protests, an inquest jury ruled today.

RELATIVES of Ian Tomlinson stormed out of his inquest after the police officer who pushed the newspaper seller to the ground during the G20 protests told an inquest he wanted to “help the family”.

The riot squad officer caught on camera pushing Ian Tomlinson to the ground before his death will face disciplinary proceedings for gross misconduct.
