A man on trial for murder has told the jury in his case that he started smoking heroin after the death of his baby girl, and was addicted to the drug when he killed 28-year-old David Sharkey.

The father of a man on trial for murdering another man whose body was discovered in the boot of his own car, has told the Central Criminal Court that his son rang him asking for a lift on the night of the killing.
