At least 14 people were killed and nine others injured when a crowded bus slipped off a mountain in Nepal, a government official said.

There is no chance of finding any of the more than 150 people who are believed to have been buried by a massive landslide in northern Nepal, an official said yesterday, as rescuers struggled to dig through piles of rock, mud, and trees.

Dozens of politicians have been arrested in Nepal since King Gyanendra declared a state of emergency and many more have gone underground, an opposition figure said today.
