Fourteen-man Ballygunner encountered some turbulence against old rivals Lismore at Walsh Park yesterday, but a polished second-half showing of 2-14 secured their place in the last four of the Waterford SHC.

Ballygunner gritted their teeth to take the spoils in a crunch championship tie against 14-man Dungarvan last night at Fraher Field (1-19 to 2-13).

THREE days after the county senior side had departed Páirc Uí Chaoimh with an emphatic championship victory, Cork’s U21 outfit replicated that effort at the same venue in last night’s Bord Gáis Energy Munster U21HC quarter-final against Waterford.

SO VERY much was expected of this Munster minor hurling championship semi-final at Walsh Park last night, but after a close and hard fought opening half, Cork decisively grabbed the initiative throughout the field and cruised to the provincial decider at a canter.
