THE husband of a woman who claimed her life was wrongfully cut short due to alleged failures at the Mid-Western General Hospital to diagnose a recurrence of her cancer has secured €110,000 in a settlement of his High Court action against the Health Service Executive.

THE High Court yesterday quashed a report of the Judge Advocate General (JAG) who concluded that a decision to forcibly retire a young Irish Army lieutenant in 1969 had been at that time “reasonable”.
