A nurse accused of poisoning two elderly patients told gardaí she bleeped a doctor and got permission to give one of them an intra muscular injection of a drug called Serenase.

A doctor has told a jury that he prescribed Serenase to a patient at Naas General Hospital after he was bleeped because the patient was hitting and kicking staff and was considered a danger to himself and others.

A ward sister has told a jury that she couldn’t recall having a conversation with a nurse accused of poisoning two patients in relation to her giving one of them an injection the previous night.
