An amnesty allowing owners to hand over dangerous dogs could be implemented across the UK, animal welfare workers said today.

In the North, owners have been handing over their illegal pit bull terriers ahead of an amnesty in the town of Ballymena, Co. Antrim.

PIT bull terriers have already been handed in and destroyed ahead of Northern Ireland’s first amnesty.

A local council in the North has offered an amnesty to anyone who wants to hand over their pitbull terrier dog.
