More than 40 members of staff have gone on strike at a nursing home in Longford.

About 173 workers returned to work this morning at the C&D Pet Food factory which was ravaged by a fire last month.

Former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds tonight said his family would do everything they could to secure the 500 jobs at risk following a fire at a pet food factory in Longford.
