POLICE inspector Ranjit Jokhoo never suspected John McAreavey after the death of his wife Michaela during their honeymoon in Mauritius in January, it emerged yesterday.

DEFENCE counsels for two suspects in the Michaela Harte murder trial, Avinash Treebhoowon and Sandip Mooneea, said their clients had told investigators at the start of the police investigation that they had nothing to do with the murder.

THE prosecuting counsel in the trial over the murder of Michaela Harte has accused the defence of playing “delaying tactics” in a bid to freeze the preliminary enquiry into the case.
