THE decision by the California District Attorney investigating last summer’s Berkeley tragedy not to bring any criminal charges in connection with it will come as a huge disappointment to the families of the six young people who died in the balcony collapse, among them five Irish students.

The prosecutor leading the investigation into the Berkeley balcony collapse has said testing of materials used in the construction of the faulty structure is continuing.

The owners and others responsible for the the building in Berkeley, California, where six Irish students died could face manslaughter charges, the local District Attorney indicated yesterday.
