The remaining charges against three Baltimore police officers awaiting trial over the death of black man Freddie Gray have been dropped.

A medical examiner found that a young black man suffered a “high-energy injury,” most likely caused when the Baltimore police van he was riding in suddenly slowed down.

Six days after the death of Freddie Gray sparked riots in Baltimore, the city’s mayor lifted a citywide curfew yesterday, signalling an end to the extraordinary measures taken to ensure public safety amid an outcry over police practices.

Baltimore’s top prosecutor announced criminal charges against all six officers suspended after a man suffered a fatal spinal injury in police custody, saying “no one is above the law”.
