Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney said this week’s EU support measures for dairy and pigmeat sectors reflected most of the demands presented by Ireland.

The Faroe Islands has around 30% of the population of Donegal, but its mackerel quota is now 30% bigger than that of Ireland, said Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation chairman Martin Howley.

Any venture to develop a combined sugar/bioethanol production facility here would have to be a viable commercial proposition, Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney told the Dáil.
