Prosecutors today called for paedophile Marc Dutroux to spend the rest of his life behind bars for multiple counts of child rape and murder that made him the most reviled man in Belgium.

THE case that has kept Belgium on tenterhooks since 1996 finally came to a close yesterday after years of delays and blunders.

Prosecutors used the second day in a child-sex and murder trial today to paint a gruesome picture of crimes they claim Marc Dutroux and his co-defendants committed against six young girls in the 1990s.
