British Prime Minister David Cameron will continue talks today with German chancellor Angela Merkel on the future shape of the European Union.

German politicians yesterday unanimously criticised the Deutsche Bank co-CEO Juergen Fitschen, following reports he had called a senior politician to complain about a raid on the bank’s Frankfurt headquarters last week.

THE German government, which applied curbs on some types of short-selling last year, said it favours a far-reaching ban across Europe of so-called naked short-selling of shares, government bonds and credit default swaps.

THERE is a large risk of political fallout in Europe, say experts who expressed concern following the European Central Bank’s (ECB) decision to buy Italian and Spanish bonds.
