A man who allegedly held up banks by claiming he had a bomb in a bag was arrested after police found the bag actually contained books – including a phone book that had a mailing label with the man’s full name and address.

A terminal at San Diego International Airport was evacuated today after luggage screeners mistook a child’s toy and a biscuit for bomb-making components, officials said.

Airports in Long Beach and Orange County were shut down early today because of bomb threats, officials said.
