THE release of convicted rapist Larry Murphy has sparked fresh debate over whether the details of sex offenders, such as addresses, should be made known to the wider community.

Proposals to allow the British public open access to information about convicted paedophiles have been ruled out by the UK government today.

MEGAN’S Law was first launched in the US following the death of seven-year-old Megan Kanka, who was raped and killed by a convicted paedophile in New Jersey in 1994.
