Jeweller Michael Wall has come up with a gem of an idea to donate a sizeable number of precious stones to the National Museum of Ireland.

Over 13,000 carats of gems are being donated to the National Museum by a Cork-based diamond and gem broker.

THE Perseid meteor shower, known in medieval times as the “tears of St Lawrence”, occurs each year around now when the Earth passes through the tail of Comet Swift-Tuttle. The meteors are particles of dust from its wake.
