The state’s standards watchdog today rapped Minister for Enterprise Micheal Martin on the knuckles for ordering a civil servant to attend a Fianna Fail parliamentary party meeting.

Ireland must continue adopting anti-corruption measures to increase public confidence in state bodies, it was claimed today.

The question of whether or not the Standards in Public Office Commission fully investigates the circumstances surrounding the awarding of contracts by Transport Minister Martin Cullen, will have to await another day and further legal advice.
