EDUCATION costs for a family with three children — two at secondary school and one starting college — will jump by more than €3,000 next year as a result of the budget cutbacks.

SCHOOLS are having problems finding qualified staff to teach Irish, home economics and other key subjects, a top school managers’ representative warned yesterday.
