VOCATIONAL school principals will not spend their time minding classes that require supervision because of the Government’s decision to cut back on payments for substitute teachers, a conference has heard.

ALMOST €2 million is still owed to vocational school principals for running supervision and substitution schemes in their schools because of an inter-union row, a conference heard yesterday.

HUNDREDS of second-level principals may be owed up to €1.6 million because of a dispute over payment for running a schools supervision scheme, their union has claimed.

ALTERNATIVE methods of education should be provided for the growing numbers of troublesome students, a principals’ leader said yesterday.
