The Duchess of Cambridge was hoping for a son and her wish has come true.

The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a son, Kensington Palace said tonight. The baby weighed 8lbs 6oz and was born at 4.24pm.

Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has been admitted to St Mary’s Hospital in London in the early stages of labour, Kensington Palace said today.
