The Government has accused Iran of harassing and oppressing minority religions.

The UN chief has got little satisfaction at the close of his trip to Tehran, snubbed by Iran’s leader over international demands to stop enriching uranium and ignored in warnings not to incite hatred by questioning the Holocaust.

Iran is prepared to negotiate on its nuclear programme but will not halt uranium enrichment ahead of talks, UN chief Kofi Annan said today after meeting the leader.
