Retail stocks rallied the London market today as the FTSE 100 Index recovered from a difficult start to the week.

Shares in department store group Debenhams jumped ahead today amid speculation that a retail entrepreneur could be behind a 7% holding in the business.

BIDS for fashion retailer New Look, which employs about 300 people in Ireland, have reportedly been received from two of the world’s largest buy-out groups.
