A ruling is expected in the High Court this morning which could have far-reaching consequences for the future of Liverpool.

The boardroom battle at Liverpool is set to be decided in court after owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett challenged the validity of the £300m (€344m) sale to New England Sports Ventures after failing in a boardroom coup.

Liverpool’s board of directors have agreed the sale of the club to New England Sports Ventures, subject to Premier League approval and the resolution of a board dispute.

Liverpool have confirmed they have received two offers to purchase the Barclays Premier League Club on a day that also saw owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett attempt to remove two senior figures from the club’s board of directors.
