One of the country’s best-known psychiatrists, who was also a talented musician and singer, has died a short time after being struck by a car while out walking.

The Morris Tribunal is for the first time ever going to the High Court to compel a witness to give evidence after Detective Sergeant John White failed to appear before the resumed hearings into garda corruption.

THE doctor treating Detective Sergeant John White has been summoned to appear before the Morris Tribunal this morning after Mr Justice Frederick Morris said he was not satisfied the witness was unable to appear.

Detective Sergeant John White will not be able to appear before the Morris Tribunal for the foreseeable future after being hospitalised, his solicitor said today.
