China’s communists called the scandal surrounding disgraced politician Bo Xilai a “profound lesson” for the ruling party, as delegates gathered in Beijing on the eve of a key leadership congress.

A LONG-AWAITED government report said design flaws and sloppy management caused a bullet train crash in July that killed 40 people and triggered a public outcry over the dangers of China’s showcase transportation system.

A high-speed passenger train came off the tracks and crashed into another train in eastern China today, killing at least 66 people and injuring more than 400, a state news agency reported.
