A Dutch national who sexually assaulted a five-year old child has been given a two years prison sentence by Judge Desmond Hogan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

A man who sexually assaulted a neighbour's four year old son told gardaí he was not a "normal person" and wanted to be caught so he would no longer be a danger to children.

The case which was the subject of the Supreme Court’s striking down of a law in relation to unlawful carnal knowledge has been adjourned for mention by Judge Katherine Delahunt at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
