LIBYA’S interim rulers yesterday elected academic Abdel Rahim al-Kib to head a transitional government as NATO was set to end an air campaign that played a major role in ousting Muammar Gaddafi.

LIBYA is celebrating today after the death of ousted dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

LIBYA’S new leaders are adamant they will keep control of their own destiny, insisting they will invite many countries, including Russia, China and the EU to collaborate in establishing a new state while honouring oil and other contracts made with the Gaddafi regime.

LIBYA’S rebels said their military commander was shot dead in an incident that was shrouded in mystery, pointing either to factional infighting within the movement trying to oust Muammar Gaddafi or to an assassination by Gaddafi loyalists.
