Soldiers who anonymously gave controversial information to Channel 4 News about Bloody Sunday were urged tonight to come forward and identify themselves to the public inquiry into the shootings.

Channel 4 was today due to produce before the Bloody Sunday Inquiry notes of interviews with soldiers used in a controversial series of TV reports about the shootings.

The Bloody Sunday inquiry has to decide whether to order Channel Four to provide it with the names of soldiers interviewed anonymously for a series of reports in the late 1990s about the day troops shot dead 13 civilians in Derry, it was announced today.
