A motorist who was convicted earlier this year for jumping on the bonnet of his car to prevent it being seized by gardaí had a better day in court yesterday when he was awarded €97,000 compensation for an injury suffered years before.

A motorist jumped on the bonnet of his car when gardaí began to seize it for being untaxed and later he went into a violent rage.

An alcoholic who drunkenly stabbed a passer-by and then tried to slash the tyres on a taxi so he couldn't escape has been given a three year prison sentence in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
