THE mother of a Northern Irish policeman killed by a car bomb has said his death should not be in vain as she urged others to join the force.

The murder of a Catholic police recruit in Omagh was indefensible, a parish priest said today. No cause or reason can ever justify the crime, Fr Kevin McElhennon said.
