Gardaí have arrested two men for a series of early-morning raids on shops across Cork.

An elderly dog abandoned at a shelter in a hot box with no water and maggots under her fur has been reunited with her previous owner.

Firefighters’ working at the scene of the devastating nursing home blaze, which claimed the lives of 10 elderly people, were left “extremely distraught” by today’s tragedy, the Fire Brigades Union said.
