A garda superintendent has denied ignoring a 2013 letter by a social worker regarding sexual assault allegations against garda whistleblower Sgt Maurice McCabe in order to “trigger an earthquake in the HSE”.

There was another issue aired at the Charleton Tribunal yesterday, and once again it did not fall in favour of Sgt Maurice McCabe.

The chairman of the Charleton tribunal has said he was "not impressed with the notion" that the onus was on a social worker to follow up when she did not receive a reply from a senior garda to a query about allegations of sexual abuse.
