More than half a billion euro in credit was available to small and medium Irish businesses that went untapped in the third quarter due to firms failing to take advantage of invoice finance.

There was roughly €500m available in invoice finance to SMEs that went unused over the second quarter of the year, according to the trade body the Asset Based Finance Association.
