A 25-year-old man who left a hard-working Polish father of four with a permanent disability, has been handed a 10-year sentence in Tralee.

Members of a Polish family in Tralee suffered terrible consequences when they intercepted a burglar of Russian origin, a sentencing hearing was told.

Gardaí yesterday refuted a suggestion they had tipped off an RTÉ radio programme about an early morning incident in Co Kerry in which a father and son were stabbed.

A 23-year-old man has been remanded in custody in connection with an alleged stabbing of a father and son in Tralee shortly before 6am last Tuesday.
