Hundreds of angry protesters marched in a town in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir today after two civilians were killed in a gunbattle between Islamic militants and army soldiers.

Indian soldiers traded gunfire with Islamic militants during a clash in India’s part of Kashmir that killed one soldier and critically wounded another, the army said today.

Clashes between Indian government forces and suspected Islamic separatist militants have killed nine people in India’s Jammu-Kashmir state.
