David Gillick warmed up for the forthcoming World Championships by claiming the 200 metres title at the Woodie's DIY National Athletics Championships at Morton Stadium this afternoon.

Current world champion Betty Heidler posted a winning throw of 72.43 metres in a class-laden hammer event at Friday night's Morton Memorial meeting in Santry.

John McDonnell has capped a remarkable indoor athletics season by being named the Male Coach of the Year by the United States Track Coaches Association (USTCA).
