Princess Caroline of Monaco took to the witness box today to defend her husband against claims he beat up a hotel manager in a row over a loud disco.

Prince Ernst August of Hanover, a cousin of the Queen of England, was fined €443,200 today for attacking a hotel owner in Kenya in a drunken rage.

Princess Caroline of Monaco's husband has been sentenced to eight months' probation and fined for two assaults.
