Two family friends of the youngest victim at Hillsborough have described how they lost sight of the 10-year-old boy as crushing on a terrace at the 1989 FA Cup semi-final became “unbearable”.

Hillsborough’s youngest victim would have been “very proud” of his cousin, the Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard, the inquest into the disaster heard today.

Steven Gerrard maintains that the memory of his cousin who died at Hillsborough has been the driving inspiration to his football career.
