Rare images of Tralee in the 1860s, believed to be the earliest-ever of Kerry’s county town, will form part of a two-day conference to explore the complex and “eventful” 800-year-old history of the Anglo-Norman settlement.

A weekend of jousting, banqueting and story- telling is marking the medieval roots of Tralee, Co Kerry, this weekend.

The Anglo-Norman or Geraldine roots of Tralee founded 800 years ago will be celebrated in a year-long series of events, beginning on St Patrick’s Day.
