Relations of those who died on the Titanic have gathered in the city where the doomed liner was built to commemorate the anniversary of the sinking.

A minute's silence was held today as a memorial was opened in Belfast marking the centenary of the sinking of the Titanic.

The family of an officer who chose to go down with the Titanic have appealed for help to return to his home city a letter he sent from the doomed liner.
