A TEAM of Dutch and American surgeons claim they are ready to perform a face transplant, a procedure considered controversial by some medical ethicists.

THE medical world inched one step closer to the realms of sci-fi surgery yesterday as a team of US surgeons claimed to be on the brink of carrying out the first face transplant.

An American surgical team was ready to perform the world’s first face transplant, its chief researcher said today.
