Ben E King, singer of such classics as Stand By Me, There Goes My Baby and Spanish Harlem, has died.

KURT Elling plays the National Concert Hall, in Dublin, this evening, after a gruelling tour of the Netherlands, Denmark and Slovenia.

JERRY Leiber, who with longtime partner Mike Stoller wrote Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Yakety Yak, Stand By Me and other hit songs that came to define early rock ‘n’ roll, has died. He was 78.

Jailhouse Rock, based on the 1957 Elvis Presley film, is due to hit London’s West End in the spring as the latest in a long line of stage musicals based on successful films.
