The UN secretary-general has strongly condemned North Korea's latest ballistic missile launch ahead of an urgent Security Council meeting, while President Donald Trump pledged to deal with Pyongyang "very strongly".

A senior North Korean diplomat based in London has defected to South Korea, becoming one of the highest level officials to do so, South Korea has said. 

North Korea will establish its own time zone next week by putting the clocks back by 30 minutes.
