Chris Froome retained his advantage on stage 19 of La Vuelta as Belgian Thomas De Gendt won a sprint finish out of the breakaway to keep Spaniards waiting for a stage victory in their home race.

Chris Froome is set to win the 2016 Tour de France after Spaniard Jon Izaguirre won stage 20 to Morzine.

Chris Froome increased his lead at the top of the general classification of the Tour de France to almost two-and-a-half minutes yesterday, with the race increasingly looking like a battle for second place.
