A prisoner bolted for freedom at Macroom courthouse but only succeeded in colliding with a member of An Garda Síochána causing the guard to crack his head against a pew in the courtroom.

A man has been sent forward for trial, on a plea of guilty, for trying to escape garda custody in a courthouse, and on a charge of assault, relating to the same incident.
