A Dublin man has been found guilty but insane for the murder of his five year-old daughter in July 2000.

A murder trial jury will this afternoon retire to consider its verdict in the case of James Joseph Byrne, the Dublin man accused of the murder of his five year old daughter.

A Dublin father on trial for the murder of his five-year-old daughter suffered from serious depression before, during and after the killing, a State psychiatrist told the Central Criminal Court today.
