Relatives of passengers aboard American Airlines Flight 587 crowded Santon Domingo airport in the Dominican Republic today, sobbing and grasping each other after hearing the flight bound for the Caribbean nation crashed shortly after take off.

They stand by the hundreds outside the armory in Manhattan, holding pictures and hoping for word of their relatives and friends who were in or near the twin towers of the World Trade Center that crumbled under a terrorist attack.
