Police have seized a portrait attributed to Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci from the vault of a Swiss bank during an investigation into tax crime and insurance fraud, an Italian court said.

A 500-year-old mystery came to an end yesterday after a new painting by Leonardo da Vinci of Renaissance noblewoman Isabella d’Este was reliably authenticated with carbon dating.
